Fundación para la Formación, la Cualificación y el Empleo en el Sector Metal de Asturias (FMA)

Fundación Metal Asturias was established in 2003 as a non-profit private organization of public interest. It counts on Autonomous and Local Administrations, the representative of metal entrepreneurs in Asturias and the main trade unions in the metal sector, as members of its Committee Board. Fundación Metal Asturias is an organization devoted to promote training and professional qualifications, as well as labour improvements, for the industry –metal sector in particular - in the Principality of Asturias, located in the North of Spain. For such purpose, its activities are focused on 3 main areas:

- Vocational Training, mainly in industry-specific topics at Initial,Occupational and Continuing levels, as well as Adult Education.

- Consultancy and Projects, covering the design of professional certifications, qualifications and profiles, the identification of training needs, the counselling for the implementation of Gender Equality Plans in the industry and Quality Systems at training organizations, and the development of recruitment and selection processes. This area is complemented by activities in the field of professional counselling and job placement.

- Didactic material, in different fields such as specialities for the chemical industry, mechanic manufacturing, electricity and electronics, industrial installations, energy and water, safety and environment, socio-cultural services and administration and management. As VET center, Fundación Metal Asturias offers online training actions through its own e-learning platform. The organization has also participated in several EU-funded projects dealing with online didactic material in an array of specialities. Currently, 87 staff members are involved in the development of the aforementioned activities. The organization counts on certifications in Quality (ISO 9001:2008 and EFQM 300+) as well as in the Environmental field (ISO 14001:2004).
