There are several reasons why schools/education centres should encourage students/learners to take part in work based learning (WBL) abroad. By doing a traineeship abroad students can improve not only their communication, language and intercultural skills, but also acquire soft skills highly valued by future employers like self-confidence and problem-solving skills. In general, learners who took part in WBL experiences abroad are more entrepreneurial and have less difficulties to enter the labour market.

The role of the sending institutions is fundamental for the organization and successful implementation of work based learning. This section of the platform provides information on how to support teachers in the process of preparing students for transnational mobilities, writing learning outcomes and evaluating their performance. It is meant to be a useful tool to support teachers in helping students maximize their transnational WBL experience and plan their next steps based on the learning outcomes they have achieved.
